M. Sven Clement (Piraten) | Merci, Här President.
Thank you, Mrs. President. Thank you, first of all, for
participating in this exercise of open dialogue, something that, these times, is even more important than
ever before.
Now, to my question: When it comes to the rule of
law mechanism, the European Parliament has actively
followed the actions brought to the European Court
of Justice and calls upon the Commission to take urgent action and to immediately apply the rule of law
conditionality mechanism.
Other than the rule of law conditionality mechanism,
there are still other judgements invalidating directives for violating the EU Charter of fundamental rights,
while at the same time not invalidating the national
transpositions of those directives.
Is the President of the opinion that in the future, the
European Parliament should play an even more active
role when it comes to pushing for the application of the
court’s decisions when it comes to fundamental rights?
Thank you
