At the physical starting point of guichet.lu, citizens can complete various formalities in person, for example to exchange an identity card or driver’s license or to obtain other information in the presence of a contact person. When renewing an ID card, it does not seem possible to pay with cash. According to a study conducted by the Luxembourg Fintech Innovation Hub in November 2021, cash remains the third most popular means of payment in Luxembourg.

In this context, we asked the government these questions:

1. Is it true that you can’t pay with cash at the Guichet that is located in the city?
   If so, why is this method of payment not offered and how do you treat people who do not have a bank card?
